I have always been fascinated with the bodybuilding physique. As a teen, I had posters and magazine cut-outs of all the golden era guys and begged my dad to buy me the gold Joe Wieder weight set. I put together a small gym at my parents house and my training began. I convinced my mom to take me to the gym one day and I saw a few large bodybuilder men and said wow I would love to look like that some day. Throughout my early years, I was blessed to train with some great 80's bodybuilding pros. I was on fire for the sport back then but life got in the way as I became a young father and had to work many hours to provide for my family.
Fast forward 30 years later, I decided to go back to the gym just to lose weight and feel good again; competing was not even on my radar. My sons were interested in bodybuilding and fitness and they convinced me to go to the Arnold Classic in 2014. This lit the competitive bodybuilding fire once again and I continued to improve my physique and was able to compete, winning numerous amateur shows and placing second at the Mr. Universe in 2018. I am coming for the win in October at the Master’s Nationals at the mature age of 54.
I am passionate about showing others that you are never to old to live out your dreams. I believe no matter what life throws your way, it’s important to stay focused on what it is you want and inspire others along the way. I work hard to be an example for people my age hoping to demonstrate that fitness is not just a young thing.
