5 Tips For Fat Loss

Summer is here, and for many of you, that means beach time! Of course, you want to look your best. You may have already been working towards getting in top shape, if so, this article can help. Otherwise, if you’re just starting to shift gears towards getting lean and ripped, here are 5 Tips For Fat Loss that will get there faster!

Tip # 1 - Fat Loss Begins In The Kitchen

Your first step is to avoid crash dieting. One of the keys to successful fat loss is to take your time. Lose fat too quickly, and you’re also losing muscle. No self-respecting 5%er wants that! The place to start is to take in fewer calories than your body burns. You'll want to take in fewer daily calories than your maintenance calorie level. If you aren’t sure what your maintenance level is, the simplest, easiest way to go is to begin by reducing daily calories by 250. Do this by cutting simple, sugary carbohydrates first.

After 1 week, if you have not lost any body fat, drop your daily calorie intake by another 250. Always cut carbohydrates first. However, since you need carbs for energy, if you reach a point where cutting calories would put you below 75-100 grams of carbs per day, turn your attention to fat calories. The only change to your protein calories should be from a high-fat source to a low-fat source. Your goal is to lose 1-2 lbs of fat per week as a result of calorie reductions and increased cardio. Finally, make sure you track your daily calorie intake and macronutrient breakdown.

Tip # 2 - Plan Your Meals In Advance

The next tip is to plan what you’re going to eat in advance. This can be as simple as a daily menu or as involved as preparing and freezing all your meals for the week. The key here is to leave yourself with no excuses, you should know what you are going to eat and it should be easily accessible. Depending on your lifestyle, this is where 5% Nutrition shakes come into play. If you know you’re going to have trouble eating when you should, have a Shake Time protein shake handy.

Tip # 3 - Add Cardio To Your Weight Lifting Program

There’s more to fat loss than merely changing your macronutrient profile. Sure, nutrition is huge, but you also have to be more active. You're currently working out with weights 3-4 days a week, maybe more. Yet you might not be doing much cardio. It’s time to get out and enjoy the nicer weather by taking long walks. Or, you can jump on a treadmill. Either way, you have to work in several sessions of cardio per week.

This article assumes you’re in reasonable shape to begin with. But you’ve probably just come off of a Winter bulking program and want to get in beach or contest condition. Begin with 3 or 4 30-minute cardio sessions at a moderate intensity. That might be walking briskly on the treadmill or outside. Depending on your progress and your goals, you can work up to a higher intensity and longer duration. That might be jogging or running on the treadmill. It could also mean wearing a weighted vest while walking outside at a very brisk pace.

Tip # 4 - Don’t Rely Only On The Scale

This tip almost goes without saying. Weigh yourself consistently but go by the mirror as well. You can measure your waist or even take pictures. The goal here is to be sure you’re hanging on to your muscle while getting leaner. It’s not really about how much you weigh, it’s about how you look.

Tip # 5 - Don’t Forget Your 5% Nutrition Supplements!

Your 5% supplement arsenal ties it all up. Begin with Shake Time for premium-quality protein. Shake Time contains no whey and uses only whole-food protein sources from beef, chicken, and eggs.
