Stay Focused On Your Goals

Whether you're a bodybuilder, powerlifter, or some other athlete, most likely your goals are months away. How do you stay focused? Break them up into smaller goals. Set weekly goals that add up to your long-term goals. As you achieve these goals, reward yourself.

That means your ultimate goal might be 50 weeks away. Get there week by week and never mind the fad diets or hype programs.

Stay Away From People That Don’t Get It

One of the biggest keys to success is to surround yourself with people that understand and motivate you. Your inner circle should have a mindset similar to yours. The last thing you need is someone sabotaging you every step of the way. If your goal is to build muscle or get stronger, you want to be around people who tell you that you can do it, not that you can’t. If your goal is fat loss, you need support, not someone playing down your efforts while they sit there eating junk food. 

It’s About Balance

As important as achieving your goals is, and it may very well be your passion, don’t neglect the rest of your life. Have balance and enjoy all that life has to offer. Rich believed in balance, and you should too. Extremes are never a good thing.  

Track Your Progress

Track your progress with an app or do it the old-fashioned way with a journal. You can track your workouts, nutrition, and supplement programs. Know where you are to know where you’re going. Don’t try just to remember everything, or even worse, take haphazard guesses about any aspect of your program. Track the details.
